SPEAKEASY
BARBERSHOP (2024)

Design Challenge: The ask for this project was to do a complete brand refresh, including a website redesign matching the new look.

Understanding the typical approach to barbershop logos, I wanted to ditch the cliques and have a mark that is both unique and pulls your interest in.

Design Approach: Leaning on the name and history of the brand “Speakeasy Barbershop”, I wanted to give off the feeling of an old-American speakeasy aesthetic, but bring it to modern day. I used a typeface that I felt was the perfect balance of “old” and “new”. I also picked a color palette that gave more of a vintage feel to further push into the direction and make it feel more connected.

Since the typeface leans into the speakeasy side of the brand, I thought it was still important to have some sort of iconography that connected to the barbershop so it would be clear to people to understood the brand was in fact a barbershop. So, taking advantage of the association with liquor and speakeasies, I created a icon mark that both taps into the classic barbershop and supports the unique twist of a speakeasy.

Website: Taking the pain points from the client, I did some simple UX restructuring to improve the usage of the website, making it easier for clients to use and more importantly, make it easy to book appointments. I also refreshed all the pages, making them match the new brand’s design.

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator
