Branding / NOMOO: Vegan Ice Cream
NOMOO.
Design Challenge: To fully brand a company.
Design Approach: I was passionate about creating this brand with the purpose to stand out. I chose a limited black and white color palette as a design challenge for myself. I want subtle callbacks to cows because they are implied in the brand name. This is achieved through color and my graphic pattern reminisces cow print. No formal representation of cows because I did not want any confusion about there being cow’s milk in NOMOO’s products. The illustrative pattern depicts all the plant-based milk that the brand offers. This can serve as useful information to people who are new to the vegan world.

Welcome to NOMOO!
Throughout the decade, veganism and plant-based products have been increasing in popularity. More people are learning about veganism and plant-based substitutes. About half (48%) of Americans drink non-dairy milk, making it the most used plant-based product. As plant milk sales rise, traditional cow milk sales decline. Therefore, meaning a new demand for plant-based milk products. With the demand for plant-based milk never being higher, I am certain that creating a brand that is focusing on this expanding market is the right choice to make.
An all-vegan ice cream shop that serves completely plant-based ice cream and treats would take advantage of this newly discovered business. Currently, there are existing ice cream brands that carry non-dairy products along with their regular dairy ones. Only a hand full of companies focus solely on being 100% plant-based and those that do lack a strong brand presence. This is a problem, non-dairy brands need to be more accessible than they are right now.
I believe I can create a brand that is strong enough to compete with existing ice cream companies. NOMOO will automatically appeal to people who do not eat dairy, an easy target audience, as well as could attract people who wish to try something new. Being vegan myself, I have an understanding of the market and what people want to see in a vegan ice cream shop. I plan to satisfy what is lacking in the non-dairy market and help expand a growing business.
